......

10/4/2017 9:24:11 AM Saving Songs.xml file.

the Songs.xml file is empty

----------------------------------------------------

Relaunched the program and the process is starting over.......

Playback is very choppy.  (not choppy with Winamp or windows media player)

Note would be great to stop or interrupt the process.

After the Second Scan completed (30 minutes)   Songs.xml was generated.

Playback is no longer choppy.

Playing music from an USB thumb drive

---------------------------------------------------------

Closed and open the program a third time.

Playback is now normal off the USB drive.

Weird, i haven't seen a issue with the song.xml not populating, and i actually deleted it today as i re-tagged some albums and music box had 2 versions of every track on the albums i re-tagged. So i deleted the xml and let it re populate, no issues at all. This is a mix of mp3 and flac files also.

Here is what i did to reproduce the problem

1.  Backup and deleted Songs.xml

2 deleted the Images from both (Artists and Genre)

2. Changed the path of the folder to scan   D:\music --- G:\

3 watched the Log File and music artwork populates

4.  Once the file stopped growing in size i opened the log to see what it generated and the last line says saved songs.xml but it was still 1k

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<MusicBox>
  <Song>
</Song>
</MusicBox>

During the process i started to listen to some of the tracks that were being read in and the audio was choppy

tried another Mp3 player and it played fine,

---------------------------------------

If this file is populated each time the Application is reopened thereafter it performs flawlessly.  it's just an issue when ran for the first time.

Ah,OK. I didn't backup, didn't delete images (never even gave that a thought) same path, just binned the songs xml so it re-populated. The search is only run when you launch, and if its just a few extra albums it's not even perceptional to me. The xml is only written to at launch if there is new content scanned, i don't believe it is re-populated at every launch.

No,at the moment is only scans for new content when opened. When I erased one of my albums from my music folder it still showed it in Music Box even though I had erased it. I had to erase the songs.xml and let it repopulate for it to take it out of my library.

I think the current issue with Songs.xml not getting saved is just that it doesn't save until the first full process is completed, which obviously needs adjusted. The process should go extremely quickly for fast drives, however I'm noting that slower drives can take a significantly longer time, so I think we just need to save the Songs.xml file intermittently instead of waiting for the full process to complete. We also do have some minor issues updating things when they change.
