kmoney
Great feature request @NJDave71 Music Box is not finding all my music as well. I did figure out one thing though is if your genre tag is left blank, Music Box will not find it. But there are some other reasons as well that has not been determined yet on why it is not detecting other music as well even when everything is tagged correctly. Jason said he is going to be creating some logging so we can figure out why it is not detecting all the music in our folders.
NJDave71
I used mp3tag and all the tracks have a genre. It's detected my entire collection. Songs, xml is an empty file. I don't know how this is suppose to be populate or if it's for future use. I hope @Jason Carr finds these suggestion worthy of implementing. lets just keep testing. Do you think MBA should be a front end to streaming music services such as Pandora, Spotify, LastFM, amazon and other services that come online. i am hoping this can replace all of the various music apps i use. neil9000
I'm not sure if all my music has imported correctly as i haven't checked that yet, but my songs.xml has definitely populated, here is a shot.
NJDave71
Interesting.... I wonder if i have two installations of MBA and this file is now in a different location. I will have to check. Does your search work? If you add more music does MBA added automatically.
NJDave71
Found the file its was locked but another process and now it's populated. a collection count would help.
kmoney
My songs.xml is empty as well..very interesting indeed. How did you get yours to populate @NJDave71?
NJDave71
I took my Songs, xml and counted the unique occurrences of <Artist> using Notepad++ I have 8386 entries this is pretty close to the actual count. I know i have a few video files since they were part of the CD or source at the time I ripped these.

kmoney
I deleted the songs.xml as well and opened up MBA to let it recreate the file and it is still showing empty,so weird

No search doesn't work for me either, i guess it's not implemented yet. Yeah if i add music to my folder MBA auto populates it when i next launch the program. NJDave71
Same on my end. Closed MBA and songs.xml is populated. @Jason Carr when does this file get populated?
kmoney
I truly do not know what is going on with my setup then as my songs.xml never gets populated,it just stays empty.
kmoney
It finally populated the songs.xml file after opening and closing the program about 20 or 30 times since I have had it. I saved the populated songs.xml to a safe folder and then erased it from MusicBoxAlpha to see if it would repopulate again and it did not, something wonky is going on for sure
NJDave71
The files that are in the data folder have a copy in the backup folder with a date appended on to their name and they have data.

Jason Carr
Search has indeed not been implemented yet, guys. The Songs.xml file should be populated and saved once the initial scanning process completes. However, we may want to tweak this process considering it's causing confusion. I will also be adding some logging (as mentioned up above) to better detail out the scanning process.
NJDave71
When in songs view it would be nice to have an play icon indicator next to the current playing song and it stand out.

Or just a play icon next to each No.1 track in the list, so i can easily start a album without a double click, lazy? maybe.

Jason Carr
Integration with third-parties like Spotify depend largely on whether there are APIs available to support them, and whether their terms of service allow it. I'm not yet at the point where we're ready to integrate them (of course), but the first step will be to do some research to see if it's even supported/allowed. neil9000
I see that you are around Jason, is the album view ready? I remember watching on the live stream 10 days ago and it was close.
