Miscellaneous Issues from recent update

Hi, So after the recent update, I have noticed some new bugs.

First up: selecting 'Edit Metadata' makes the window pop up so small that its just a rectangle. luckily, all that is needed to fix is to resize the window. The entire program used to do this for me upon opening it, but seems to have fixed itself. seen in the attached 1.jpg.

Secondly, some Japanese appears to be broken, and displayed as random letters and punctuation. Attached images 2 & 3 show this off, with the properly displayed characters in windows explorer. note that this doesn't apply to all albums, most display properly.

The entire program stopped opening for me at one point. nothing happened at all after opening any shortcuts or the base .exe file. No error message or sound, and nothing showed up in the task manager. Deleting and reinstalling the program fixed it for me.

I have noticed that Musicbox has been crashing way more frequently than it used to (usually after clicking on things, whether its opening an album, editing data or even scrolling the scrollbar).  Is there a crash log file? I can't find it.

the next bugs listed have occurred since before the recent update.

Some really large .FLAC files stutter occasionally. most don't. It seems to be ones with huge file sizes (the problematic file I found is 377mb, and 9:18 long. Shorter songs from the album don't seem to stutter).

playing a song by double clicking  it sometimes makes the screen instantly scroll back up to the top.

Sometimes, opening an album makes the song titles appear with a row of other albums between the album icon and tracklist. Shown in attached image 4.

when maximized and the windows taskbar is hidden off  the screen, moving the mouse over to the taskbar doesn't reveal it. I have to minimize Musicbox or use the windows key to access the taskbar.

That's all the ones I could remember for now. I hope this post was helpful!

I've fixed this for the next version, which should be out shortly.

All I can figure is that this must be an issue with the way we're reading the file tags, or with the library that we're using to read them. I'll dive in deeper to this yet, but I'm not immediately finding a solution.

There is a file called Log.txt in the MusicBoxAlpha\Data folder. It could certainly use more information in it, but if you do run into further issues, it might help to send it our way. It would probably be best to do it in a PM though for privacy reasons.

Usually this can be fixed by changing the playback settings under Options > Playback. I would first try increasing the Latency value by a small margin. It's usually just caused by the hardware not being able to keep up with the low latency.

This one I haven't yet been able to reproduce. Have you found any clues as to what might be causing it to happen? Does it have to do with resizing the window?

I'm not fully following here. Do you mean the taskbar is on auto-hide?

Tried this and it fixed the problem!

after doing some testing, it only seems to happen in maximized screen size (or large windows that are almost at maximized size) it doesn't occur at all in smaller window sizes. (I have a screen resolution of 1920x1080 if that's any help)

I did find that file when making the original post, but didn't see any crash information in it.

yes. normally, the taskbar should appear when moving the cursor nearby, but it won't work when musicbox is in maximized mode.

Excellent! I look forward to seeing the improved version. Thank you for the response.
